Sydney Sax Sessions #1

Welcome to my blog ‘Sydney Sax Sessions.’ This is my first post. The aim of my blog is to post about my personal saxophone journey, gigs, experiences and stories which will serve others. There will be content for everyone - people wondering what live saxophone can add to weddings/events, saxophone and clarinet players, musicians, and more. My aim is to serve the community.

Who am I?

I am Taylor De Col - professional saxophonist, clarinet player, and music teacher. I’ve been playing the clarinet for 25 years, and the saxophone for 22 years. I have been teaching music for 16 years and have my Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Music. I have performed throughout the USA, Caribbean, Europe and Australia. I specialise in jazz, which allows me to perform and solo over all styles of music with confidence. I have always really loved music and I knew I wanted to be a professional musician since I was young. It was my calling. Music performance and education is my passion and lifelong dream. I feel very grateful and happy to be living my dream of teaching and performing music every day.

I’ve been performing saxophone at weddings and all types of events in Sydney since 2014. I perform with DJ’s, live bands, or as solo saxophone.

I am originally from the USA, but I’ve been living in Sydney Australia since 2013 - it’s beautiful here. Music is so beautiful because you are always growing, always creating, and always learning. It’s one of those things that you never reach the pinnacle of - there is always a new note to play, a new song to write, a new solo to create, a new song to jam. Everyday is an adventure and it’s an amazing lifelong journey - I’m here for it. I want to inspire as many people through teaching and performing music as I can.
